UK procurement update: weekly volumes steady as values fall

UK procurement notice volumes were broadly stable in the rolling seven days to 15 October 2026, with 2,030 notices, compared with 2,037 in the immediately preceding seven-day period. The supplied comparison records a 0.3% decline.

Published values fell to £9,273,437,567.844, from £48,181,731,017.44. These totals include only GBP values supplied in notices: they are not a measure of all procurement spending or the value of contracts currently available to bid for.

For suppliers, the more direct bidding indicator was comparatively steady. The latest period contained 314 open notices, against 318 in the preceding week. However, the four-week history shows a longer decline in notice volumes, buyer participation and open notices.

The rolling seven-day comparison

The principal comparison is 9–15 October against 2–8 October, rather than a comparison between individual publication days.

Measure9–15 October2–8 October
Notices2,0302,037
Buyers777822
Published GBP value£9,273,437,567.844£48,181,731,017.44
Open notices314318
Awarded notices1,5561,518
Closed notices11
Cancelled notices27

The combination of almost unchanged overall volume and fewer buyers indicates that the latest week's publications came from a narrower buyer base. Awarded notices increased, while open notices edged lower. This distinction matters when assessing the market: publication activity includes contract outcomes as well as opportunities that suppliers can pursue.

The fall in published value should therefore be read alongside notice status, not treated as an equivalent fall in accessible tender value.

Four weeks show a downward volume trend

The latest week's small decline follows more substantial reductions earlier in the supplied history.

9–15 October2,030777314£9,273,437,567.844

Notice counts, buyer counts and open notices declined in each successive period. Published values followed a less consistent path, rising in 2–8 October before falling in the latest week.

The evidence supports a distinction between a continuing downward volume trend and more variable published values. It does not establish why either movement occurred. Suppliers should use the weekly figures to guide monitoring, then assess individual notices for relevance, eligibility and timing.

Award activity shapes the daily picture

As secondary context, 15 October recorded 442 notices from 223 buyers, compared with 362 notices from 219 buyers on the same weekday last week. The supplied same-weekday volume comparison is an increase of 22.1%. That stronger daily reading does not reverse the rolling weekly decline.

The report-date coverage included 48 open notices and 362 awarded notices. Its published GBP value was £722,042,655.78, compared with £14,468,626,418.08 on the same weekday last week.

The daily notice-type breakdown also shows substantial award and contract-detail activity: 180 awarded contract notices on Contracts Finder and 122 contract details notices on Find a Tender. Alongside these were 34 tender notices and 22 preliminary market engagement notices on Find a Tender. These categories should not be interpreted as interchangeable bidding opportunities.

Sectors and buyers to monitor

In the supplied report-date sector breakdown, Other sectors accounted for 161 notices. Among the named sectors, construction and property recorded 41, followed by IT and digital with 40, transport with 37, professional services with 33, and health and social care with 20.

The leading buyers by notice count were League Football Education with 40, West Sussex County Council with 17, Surrey County Council and North Tyneside Council with 11 each, and UK Shared Business Services Limited with 10. These are publication counts, not rankings of available contract value.

Regional labels require care. The data includes England with 125 notices and South East with 25, alongside separate United Kingdom, UK and GB labels. A further 89 notices have no region supplied. Suppliers should check delivery locations in the original notice rather than rely solely on these labels.

Five notices for supplier attention

The following selected notices were published on 15 October. Their differing statuses are important: market engagement is not the same as an open tender.

Family Fund: white goods

Family Fund's “GB-York: Family Fund Group White Goods Tender” is an open opportunity notice on Contracts Finder with a supplied value of £100,000,000. The recorded deadline is 12:00 UTC on 2 November 2026. Suppliers should check the original documentation for scope, participation requirements and submission instructions.

Ministry of Defence: service management platform

The Ministry of Defence's “CSM Business Service Management Platform and Implementation Partner” is an upcoming preliminary market engagement notice on Find a Tender, with a supplied value of £100,000,000. No deadline is supplied in this dataset. Treat it as an early-engagement item rather than a live tender invitation.

Procurement Services: office and logistics

Commercial Services Kent Ltd, trading as Procurement Services, has published an open Find a Tender notice for “Total Office & Logistics Solutions”, with a supplied value of £100,000,000. The recorded deadline is 17:00 GMT on 25 November 2026. Suppliers should establish the precise scope before making a bid decision.

Lincolnshire: adult skills and employment

Lincolnshire County Council's “Adult Skills and Employment Programmes” is an upcoming preliminary market engagement notice with a supplied value of £87,000,000. No deadline is supplied. Relevant providers should verify the engagement arrangements and any requirements for responding directly in the notice.

Devon and Cornwall Police: cleaning services

Devon and Cornwall Police's “Regional Cleaning Services” is an open Find a Tender notice with a supplied value of £55,000,000. Its recorded deadline is 12:00 UTC on 11 December 2026. Suppliers should review the service requirements and procurement documents before allocating bid resources.

Source and data-quality note

This analysis uses only the supplied verified procurement dataset, including notice records from Contracts Finder and Find a Tender. The rolling seven-day comparison is the primary measure; the four-week history explains direction, and same-weekday figures provide secondary context.

Published values include only GBP values supplied in notices. They span different notice statuses and must not be read as a total live bidding pipeline. Aggregate values retain the precision supplied in the dataset. Regional labels are reproduced as supplied, and the listed status and notice-type categories are not presented as an exhaustive reconciliation of all notices.

Before acting, verify the original notice, current status, value basis, deadline, procurement documents and any subsequent amendments.
