UK procurement update: weekly notices fall 6.6% as published values rise

UK procurement coverage recorded 1,996 notices in the seven days to 19 September 2026, down 6.6% on the preceding week. Buyer participation increased, while published GBP values rose sharply. The latest notices include a customer due diligence platform tender and offshore wind market engagement.

Four-week UK procurement notice totals ending 19 September 2026: 1,807, 1,520, 2,137 and 1,996.
Verified daily procurement statistics for 2026-09-19.

Weekly notices ease, buyer participation rises

UK procurement coverage recorded 1,996 notices from 13–19 September 2026, compared with 2,137 from 6–12 September. The supplied rolling seven-day comparison shows a 6.6% decline in notice volume.

Buyer participation moved in the opposite direction: 867 buyers appeared in the latest seven-day period, against 855 in the immediately preceding period. For suppliers, this distinction matters. Fewer notices did not coincide with fewer buyers publishing, so the headline decline should not be read as a uniform retreat across the buyer base.

Published values increased to £62,723,532,132.76, from £12,468,595,502.21 in the preceding seven days. These totals include only GBP values supplied in notices. They are not a measure of the value of every procurement covered, nor should they be treated as a budget available for new bids.

Four-week history shows an uneven market

The four-week series places the latest decline in context. Notice volumes fell between the first and second periods, rose in the third, then eased in the latest week. The current total remains above those recorded in both earlier periods, but below the immediately preceding week.

Seven-day periodNoticesBuyersPublished GBP value
23–29 August 20261,807763£35,653,109,338.01
30 August–5 September 20261,520677£15,864,223,611.04
6–12 September 20262,137855£12,468,595,502.21
13–19 September 20261,996867£62,723,532,132.76

Buyer participation has risen across the latest three periods, from 677 to 855 and then 867. Published values followed a different path: they declined across the first three periods before rising in the latest week.

This divergence is important for procurement market analysis. Notice volume, buyer breadth and disclosed value describe different aspects of activity. The supplied facts do not identify the notices responsible for the weekly value increase, so attributing it to a particular contract, buyer or sector would go beyond the evidence.

Open notices remain below the preceding week

The latest seven-day coverage contained 434 open notices, compared with 442 in the preceding period. Across the four-week history, open counts were 208, 287, 442 and 434, respectively. The latest figure therefore sits below the preceding week but above both earlier periods.

Awarded notices remained prominent, with 1,342 in the latest week against 1,424 previously. The earlier weekly award counts were 1,245 and 978. Award activity can support supplier research into buying patterns, but it should be distinguished from procurement that remains open for competition.

The current period also recorded 11 closed notices, compared with 48, and 19 cancelled notices, compared with 31. The supplied framework count was zero in both periods and throughout the four-week series. Suppliers should nevertheless check individual notice descriptions and classifications rather than relying on one aggregate field.

Latest-day coverage provides secondary context

For 19 September 2026, the supplied coverage contains 11 notices from nine buyers, with published GBP values of £1,665,643. It records one open notice and nine awarded notices; the opportunity list also includes preliminary market engagement with an upcoming status.

The same weekday last week recorded zero notices, zero buyers and £0 in supplied values. No same-weekday percentage comparison is supplied. This is secondary context only: the rolling seven-day comparison provides the primary basis for assessing direction.

The latest-day notice mix comprises four dynamic market modification notices, three awarded contract notices on Contracts Finder, two contract award notices on Find a Tender, one tender notice and one preliminary market engagement notice. It is therefore important not to interpret all 11 publications as fresh tender opportunities.

Customer due diligence platform tender

Notting Hill Genesis (NHG). has published an open tender for a Customer Due Diligence (CDD) Platform, with a supplied value of £550,000.

The deadline is 12:00 on 19 October 2026, with the supplied timestamp specifying +01:00. This is the open tender in the latest-day opportunity list and warrants attention from suppliers assessing the requirement against their capabilities.

Before committing bid resources, suppliers should verify the specification, eligibility requirements, submission arrangements and any subsequent changes in the original Find a Tender notice.

Offshore wind market engagement

The Crown Estate has published Future Offshore Wind (FOSW) Metocean Survey Capability – Preliminary Market Engagement. Its supplied status is upcoming, with no value or deadline provided.

For suppliers considering this requirement, the immediate task is to establish how the buyer intends to conduct engagement and whether participation is relevant to their services. The publication should not be presented as an open tender or as a confirmed contract award.

Award notices for market intelligence

Three further publications illustrate the distinction between bidding opportunities and award intelligence.

The Corporation of Trinity House published an awarded contract notice for T0345 – Dry Dock & Repair of Lightvessel 06, valued at £408,069. Its supplied deadline was 13 July 2026, so the September publication should not be mistaken for a current invitation to bid. Trinity House appears with three notices in the latest-day buyer summary.

IRWELL VALLEY HOUSING ASSOCIATION LIMITED published an awarded notice titled Responsive Repairs and Void Works Framework. No value or deadline is supplied. Its title includes “Framework”, while the aggregate framework field records zero; those facts should be retained without substituting a new classification.

The Ministry of Justice published an awarded notice for Probation Digital Delivery for Platform Engineering, also without a supplied value or deadline. It offers a reference point for tracking digital procurement, rather than a live bid deadline in this dataset.

Source and data-quality note

This article uses the supplied verified procurement coverage for 19 September 2026, including notice records from Find a Tender and Contracts Finder. Weekly comparisons use the rolling seven-day period against the immediately preceding seven-day period, supported by the four-week history.

Published value totals include only GBP values supplied in notices. Missing values are not estimates of zero contract value. Status fields, notice types and aggregate classifications should be read alongside the individual records; publication counts should not automatically be treated as counts of new competitions.

Suppliers and procurement professionals should verify the original notice for the authoritative scope, current status, deadlines, documents and amendments before making bidding or commercial decisions.
