Rationale
Need for additional works, services or supplies by the original contractor/concessionaire: Modification notice for the original contract. The “Home Office” awarded a contract procurement reference - Tender_475502/1466336 “EUC&C Tech Refresh”. The Home Office has now uplifted the value in the original contract, under Public Sector Regulations 72(1)(b) – economic or technical reasons for change- which states: “This regulation may be used if the modifications are for additional works, services or supplies by the original contractor that have become necessary and were not included in the initial procurement, where a change of contractor” (i) cannot be made for economic or technical reasons such as requirements of interchangeability or interoperability with existing equipment, services or installations procured under the initial procurement; and (ii) would cause significant inconvenience or substantial duplication of costs for the contracting authority, provided that any increase in price does not exceed 50% of the value of the original contract. Reason for the variation: To increase the contract value by £8m (Ex Vat) to enable continuity and support to maintain tech refresh for the Home Office and other wider areas that need to rely on this contract. Contract variation: The Contract is varied as follows: Original Contract Value: £30m (excluding VAT) Value of modification (Aug 2026): £8m (excluding VAT) New total contract value: £38m (excluding VAT)
