Description
The initial 60 month contract has been extended beyond its original expiry date of 31st December 2024 for an additional 24 month period, with a further 12 month extension applied. The revised contract expiry date is 31st December 2027.
Rationale
Need for modification brought about by circumstances which a diligent contracting authority/entity could not foresee: Recent updates to the WEEE Regulations have introduced several significant changes, including amendments made in 2025 to the underlying 2013 legislative framework. These changes introduce a new category of electrical and electronic equipment (EEE), capturing products such as disposable vapes within regulatory scope. This separate category for vapes is expected to become effective from August 2026 with further, more substantial reforms anticipated during 2026. The extension of this Framework ensures continuity of service for Contracting Authorities, maintaining compliance during a period of regulatory transition.
