Description
The purpose of this modification is vary the Approved Organisation's contract for provision of Winter Maintenance Services (C388431) to include for ongoing provision of grounds maintenance at the Queens Medical Centre and ongoing than tree inspection surveys at Nottingham City Hospital, following termination of the previous contract (See
Original FTS/OJEU Notice)

The objective of the modification is to ensure the grounds are maintained to a high standard, mitigating
potential safety risks such as vegetation obstructing the Approved Organisation's highway network, encroaching into buildings and rodent infestation.

Grounds Maintenance contract includes, but is not limited to, the following:

- Grass cutting
- Weed spraying
- Tree inspection surveys
- Hedge/shrub/rose/flower bed maintenance

Regular grounds maintenance ensures that any potential hazards, such as uneven surfaces or overgrown vegetation, are identified and addressed before they cause accidents such as:

- Trips hazards due to vegetation encroaching onto paved areas
- Motor accidents as a direct result of vegetation reducing visibility at junctions/bends on the Trust’s road network
- Trees or parts thereof falling onto vehicles/people/Trust property
- Infectious disease due to buildup of rodent infestation in unkept areas
Rationale
Need for additional works, services or supplies by the original contractor/concessionaire: It is envisaged having two contractors performing separate summer and winter maintenance would result in additional overhead costs associated with managing two contractors doing essentially the same work on site, just at different times of the year, and processing invoices, reviewing health and safety etc.

The total value of the original contract is £500,000 with the proposed modification of £72,000 representing 14.4% of the original contract value. This is well below the threshold of 50% permitted under Regulation 72(1)(b).
