The Department of Finance require an uplift on the contract value due to an unforeseen expanded operational and legislative responsibilities placed on DAERA since contract award and to also provide sufficient headroom for the onboarding of PSNI and Waterways Ireland as participants on this Collaborative contract.
Rationale
Need for additional works, services or supplies by the original contractor/concessionaire: The modification request is to increase the Contract Value by £3,833,32. The Regulations permit the modification of a contract where the changes proposed meet one or more of the prescribed tests as set out in Regulation 72. Having considered the information provided there would appear to be convincing reasons to modify this contract in accordance with Regulation 72(1)(b) for additional works, services or supplies by the original contractor that have become necessary and were not included in the initial procurement. This modification is for a total of £3,833,32 leading to a revised contract total of £42,118,313.
