State of Medical Education and Practice Barometer Survey

General Medical Council (GMC) · compiled

Tender information last checkedLast checked 29 Sept 2026, 18:44.

Opportunity overview

65 The GMC Barometer survey is a tracking survey that we run every year to find out how doctors’ experiences of practising in the UK are changing over time. Since the first Barometer survey in 2019, SoMEP reports have drawn extensively on the findings, including insight on workload pressures, burnout, patient care, and future career intentions. We are asking bidders to tender for the 2022 and 2023 Barometer surveys, with the option for the GMC to extend this to the 2024 and 2025 surveys. Evidence from these annual surveys will underpin our SoMEP publication over the upcoming years.

Rationale
Need for modification brought about by circumstances which a diligent contracting authority/entity could not foresee: Value increase due to higher-than-expected inflation. Additional analytical work was also a factor, as annually updating the survey created unexpected requirements.
