The original scope of the scheme was between the A66 Elton interchange in the north and the A67 junction in the south. Public consultation on this was carried out in September 2023. The proposed cycleway infrastructure will provide improved access for pedestrians, wheelers and cyclists to Durham Lane industrial estate, the new western access to Eaglescliffe Station and the forthcoming Tees Link site, as well as linking with the existing cycle and pedestrian network south of Cleasby Way. The route will comprise of segregated cycle routes, shared route, and new crossing facilities.
