Transport for Wales (TfW) are interested in exploring the potential opportunities that Hydrogen Combustion Engines (HICE) could offer in the decarbonisation of the Welsh bus fleet. As part of our project exploring HICE, we are conducting market engagement to understand both the market and technology capabilities. We would be interested in talking to businesses who: • Currently provide HICE both with installation to a vehicle and without. • Are developing a HICE product • Run vehicles with HICE • Are considering or have considered running HICE vehicles Our primary interest is in buses, however given the limited deployments of HICE buses, we would be interested in hearing about vehicles of all types. If your business aligns with the above, please email supplychain@tfw.wales by 31st July 2025 with a short overview of your interest in HICE and a member of the team will be in touch to arrange a meeting. Please note that this market engagement exercise is for information-gathering purposes and does not constitute a commitment to initiate a procurement process or award any contract.
