UK procurement notices rise 23.7% over rolling seven days
UK procurement notice activity increased in the rolling seven-day period ending 28 September 2026, with 2,697 notices compared with 2,180 in the immediately preceding seven days. The supplied comparison records growth of 23.7%.
Buyer coverage also widened, reaching 997 buyers against 928. Published GBP values totalled £182,999,509,289.90, compared with £80,849,995,294.71 in the preceding period.
The increase in overall activity did not translate into more open notices. Awarded notices rose to 2,066 from 1,463, while open notices fell to 411 from 479. For suppliers, the headline growth therefore needs to be read alongside procurement status: a busier publication period is not necessarily a larger pool of live tenders.
Published values include only GBP values supplied in notices. They should not be interpreted as confirmed expenditure or as the value of contracts currently available to bid for.
The seven-day comparison
The primary comparison covers 22–28 September against 15–21 September. Alongside the increase in notice and buyer counts, the latest period recorded three closed notices against eight, and 30 cancelled notices against 22. The framework count remained at one in both periods.
The sharp rise in awarded notices is an important feature of the weekly picture. These records can support market research, but their awarded status distinguishes them from open procurement opportunities. Suppliers using publication totals to assess demand should keep these categories separate.
The fall in open notices also merits attention. It contrasts with the increase in total publications and shows why bid teams should use status filters rather than treat every new record as an invitation to compete.
Four weeks show rising activity
The four-week history puts the latest increase in context. Total notice counts, buyer counts, awarded notices and published GBP values increased in each successive period.
| Seven-day period | Notices | Buyers | Open notices | Awarded notices | Published GBP value |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1–7 September | 1,889 | 787 | 367 | 1,227 | £17,506,826,591.75 |
| 8–14 September | 2,113 | 830 | 436 | 1,416 | £20,327,149,386.88 |
| 15–21 September | 2,180 | 928 | 479 | 1,463 | £80,849,995,294.71 |
| 22–28 September | 2,697 | 997 | 411 | 2,066 | £182,999,509,289.90 |
Open notices followed a different path: they increased across the first three periods before falling in the latest week. The broader direction is therefore rising publication activity and buyer participation, but not uninterrupted growth in open opportunities.
The published-value series also rises throughout the four weeks. The supplied aggregates do not establish why values increased, and notice totals alone cannot show how much spending will ultimately occur.
The report-day snapshot
On 28 September, coverage comprised 420 notices from 265 buyers, with published GBP values of £7,763,183,869.75. The status breakdown included 58 open notices, 323 awarded notices, no closed notices and two cancelled notices. The framework count was zero.
As secondary context, the same weekday last week recorded 542 notices from 333 buyers. The supplied notice-count comparison is a decline of 22.5%. That earlier snapshot included 123 open notices, 364 awarded notices, eight cancelled notices and one framework, with published GBP values of £27,814,662,194.
This same-weekday decline does not alter the primary finding: the latest rolling seven-day period recorded more notices than the immediately preceding seven-day period.
Sectors and active buyers
In the supplied report-day sector breakdown, “Other sectors” accounted for 115 notices. Transport followed with 53, health and social care with 40, and construction and property with 34. Professional services and IT and digital each recorded 32.
West Sussex County Council led the listed buyers with 23 notices, followed by the University of the West of England with 18 and National Highways Limited with 12. Surrey County Council recorded nine and Bristol City Council eight. These are publication counts, not counts of open tenders.
The notice-type breakdown reinforces the prominence of award-related activity: 136 were awarded contract notices on Contracts Finder, 96 were contract details notices on Find a Tender, and 30 were contract award notices on Find a Tender. There were also 44 tender notices and 22 preliminary market engagement notices on Find a Tender.

Source and data quality
This report uses only the supplied verified procurement dataset, including notice records from Find a Tender and Contracts Finder. Sector, buyer, region and notice-type breakdowns describe the report-day snapshot, not the rolling seven-day totals.
Regional labels include England, United Kingdom, UK and GB, while 58 records have no region supplied. These labels should not be treated as mutually exclusive geographic markets. Framework counts are supplied aggregate classifications and should not be inferred from titles containing “framework”.
Published values include only GBP values supplied in notices; no missing values or currency conversions have been added. Status, value, scope and deadlines should always be checked against the original notice and procurement documents before suppliers commit bid resources.
